The association 'Un Gancio al Parkinson' has opened in Florence, following the historic one in via Scipione Ammirato, a new location at 126 Via Lunga in Isolotto, to cope with the growing demand for this therapy.
Boxing as a therapy against Parkinson's is proving to be effective and patients are increasing.
Parkinson's disease patients follow a specific programme based on non-contact boxing to improve their physical and mental abilities.
This therapy not only helps patients to improve their health but also to feel part of a community facing the same disease.
Currently, there are about one hundred patients attending the meetings.
Maurizio Bertoni, president of the association, expressed his gratitude to the Florence Spinal Unit Sports Group for having welcomed them so willingly at their facility.
Bertoni emphasised that the association is receiving new requests every day and that thanks to the new spaces offered, they can finally have some breathing space.
Thanks to boxing as a therapy against Parkinson's disease, the association is embarking on a virtuous path to curb the effects of the disease and becoming a reference point for others in Italy.
