Dr. Bertoni's visit together with trainer Stefano Cappelli to the Gleason's Gym in New York where the stoPD programme is active (http://www.gleasonsgym.com/stopd).
Meeting with Dr Roberta Marongiu, Italian researcher at Weill Cornell Medical College (https://weill.cornell.edu); Dr Marongiu's field of study and research is the genetics of Parkinson's disease.
Dr Marongiu, together with her husband Alex Montaldo, a psychologist, has been running this service at Gleason's Gym for a few years now with an ever increasing number of patients.
The foundations were laid for a collaboration agreement between the Training Lab and the stoPD organisation; the project will establish common protocols, validated by clinical research.
The Training Lab Firenze aims to act as a reference centre for the training of instructors who wish to become specialised instructors for the treatment of patients suffering from Parkinson's disease.
Thanks to this prestigious collaboration, our commitment is to be able to increase this activity, which is a valuable contribution to the treatment of this very common disease in Italy as well.
