Four years after its foundation, the association 'Un Gancio al Parkinson' has made great strides: it is treating more than 100 patients aged between 45 and 80 years with boxing. Introducing the sport as a therapy for Parkinson's in Italy was Maurizio Bertoniorthopaedic doctor. The results are such that the Florentine association is now called upon all over Italy to train new instructors and physiotherapists specialised in boxing for Parkinson's disease.
- Dr Bertoni, where did you discover that boxing is good for you?
- "In New York: in America it is widely practised as rehabilitation therapy. We started as guests of the gym Training Lab Firenze in via Scipione Ammirato. It is such a success that they also come from outside Florence and we would need more space'.
