The noble art against Parkinson's

WHY BOXING
FOR PARKINSON'S

We chose Boxing training as a physical activity to improve the quality of life for Parkinson’s patients.

Science has recently shown that doing motor activity is crucial for improving symptoms.

But it is necessary that this activity be as intense as possible.
Boxer training is certainly an intense activity and one that can still be adjusted according to the condition of each individual patient.
Clinical studies confirm this benefit. At least two sessions should be done weekly and for as long a period as possible.

FIND OUT ABOUT OUR ASSOCIATION

What is Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the nervous system, causing symptoms such as tremors, muscle rigidity, slowness of movement, and difficulty with balance.

Our project

In Brooklyn, I attended a boxing session for Parkinson's patients. Back in Italy, I founded the association “A Hook to Parkinson's” to offer the same support. We now help more than 100 people fight the disease through boxing. Dott. Maurizio Bertoni

A noble art

We chose boxing as a physical activity to improve the quality of life for patients with Parkinson's disease, as science has shown that exercise is essential to alleviate symptoms.

Our Dream Team

OUR
DREAM TEAM

A new approach to fight Parkinson's disease

OUR METHOD

The Boxing Method, developed by Dr. Maurizio Bertoni, and his team, represents an innovative approach to the management of Parkinson’s disease. This methodology uses the principles of boxing, suitably adapted to the needs of patients, to counter the advancement of the disease.

The therapeutic method used is based on specific boxing exercises combined with cognitive and visuomotor training . It is now known, in fact, that the integration of these types of training offers greater benefits than performing only motor exercises. Training sessions include coordination, balance and strength exercises, simultaneously stimulating skills such as reaction time, memory and eye-hand coordination. This is thanks to the use of innovative technological equipment such as the virtual reality visor. All of this helps slow down the course of the disease, promoting neuroplastic phenomena and the maintenance of motor and cognitive functions.

Our mission is to make this method accessible to more and more people with Parkinson’s disease. Thanks to the commitment of our specialized instructors and the support of the scientific community, we continue to gather evidence on the effectiveness of this innovative approach.
